ARTHUR E. GIMMY, MAI
Arthur E. Gimmy, MAI is the President of AGI Valuations, a firm currently employing six appraisers, plus support staff, located in Petaluma and Newport Beach, California. He started in the appraisal business in 1959 and received the MAI credential in 1965. Mr. Gimmy has taught many appraisal courses during his career including ones at San Jose State, UCLA, University of Tampa, University of Connecticut and SMU, and he also has served on numerous local and national committees during his career, including The Appraisal Journal Editorial Board for 10+ years.Mr. Gimmy has been a pioneer in the analysis of a variety of difficult, unique, or specialized properties and appraisal concepts. He is much sought after for expert testimony in litigation matters involving large and complex real estate and business issues. His awards include the Professional Recognition Award in 1975 and 1978, and the highest honor, the George L. Schmutz Memorial Award from the Appraisal Institute in 1996 at the Chicago meetings. The Schmutz Award was established in 1959 and has only been awarded 38 times; it is for "his special contribution to the advancement of appraisal knowledge."
